How to merge Voice Memos on iPhone

Merge the recordings step by step

  1. Select the recordings in Voice Memos

    Open Voice Memos, tap Select, and choose the recordings that belong in the same finished file. Play them first if their names do not make the order clear.

  2. Share them to MemoJoin

    Tap Share and choose Add to MemoJoin. Open MemoJoin, review the pending recordings, then add them to the Current Merge or start a new merge. If the action is not visible, use the share sheet’s More action to enable it.

  3. Arrange and trim the clips

    Drag the recordings into the order you want. Open any clip to preview it and trim unwanted audio from its beginning or end. Trimming changes only MemoJoin’s working copy.

  4. Choose the pause between clips

    Set no gap, 0.5 seconds, or 1 second. A short, consistent pause can make separate speech recordings sound intentional without turning the task into multitrack editing.

  5. Audit every join

    Listen where each pair of recordings meets. If a transition includes a repeated word, a long silence, or a clipped sentence, return to that clip and adjust the trim before exporting.

  6. Export and validate one M4A

    Export after every join is checked. MemoJoin renders and validates the file locally, keeps the completed result in read-only Merge History, and lets you save a copy to Files or use the iOS share sheet.

What to check before exporting

  • The clips are in the intended order.
  • Each trim begins and ends without cutting off speech.
  • The selected gap sounds natural for the recording.
  • Every join has been played and marked as checked.
  • Your device has enough free space for working copies and the finished file.
