Common questions

What audio files can I import?

Choose audio through Files. MemoJoin checks each selected file and explains which item is unsupported, empty, protected, or unreadable without blocking other valid files. The formats confirmed for your version are listed inside the app and on its App Store page.

Will my original recordings change?

No. MemoJoin creates protected working copies. Ordering, renaming, trimming, and deleting a clip from the merge do not modify or delete the source recording.

Where does audio processing happen?

Import checks, previews, trims, join previews, and export run on your iPhone or iPad. MemoJoin does not upload recordings to MemoJoin servers.

Can I save the result back to Voice Memos?

MemoJoin can save the M4A to Files or open the iOS share sheet. iOS decides which compatible destinations appear. MemoJoin cannot write directly into the Voice Memos library or force Voice Memos to appear.

What happens if an import or export fails?

MemoJoin keeps successful items where possible, explains the failed item, and lets you retry. An interrupted or invalid export is not presented as a finished result, and temporary output from that attempt is cleaned up.

Does MemoJoin record audio?

No. MemoJoin assembles recordings you already own. It does not request microphone access for in-app recording.

Where are completed files kept?

Validated exports remain in read-only Merge History until you delete them. Saving to Files or sharing creates a separate copy that MemoJoin cannot later remove.

Known limits

  • MemoJoin keeps one editable Current Merge at a time. Merge History contains read-only completed results, not editable projects.
  • MemoJoin exports M4A. It does not export MP3 or WAV.
  • It is not a recorder, multitrack editor, transcription tool, noise remover, or cloud-sync service.
  • Long recordings need enough free space for working copies, rendering, and the finished file.
  • The iOS share sheet controls which compatible apps appear for an exported M4A.
Your recordings stay under your control.

MemoJoin processes audio locally and does not upload it. If you choose Save to Files or Share, the exported copy goes only to the location or app you select.
